Salvation Army
Hillsdale College
Mission
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
About
As a GOAL program, we serve the community in a multitude of different ways. As students, there are opportunities at the family store, the soup kitchen, daily lunches, and at a program called Character Building. We aim to serve the less fortunate in the surrounding Hillsdale community. Volunteering at the family store includes helping sort the items that have been donated to help get them on the floor. The soup kitchen happens on Tuesdays, and there are lunches every day where people can get involved with serving the food or getting to know the people that come to eat there. Character building is a program like a club for children to come make friends and learn about different things, ranging from the solar system to the beginnings of the Salvation Army. Salvation Army is a diverse GOAL program that offers something for almost anyone.
